Job Description

Salary: $49,000 - 63,000 per year Requirements:

  • We require a bachelors degree in Systems Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, along with 3+ years of experience in the aerospace sector.
  • A masters degree in Human Factors is preferred.
  • INCOSE certification is desired.
  • Experience with NASA design review processes is preferred.
  • Knowledge of NASA human-rating requirements for crewed vehicles is preferred.
  • Familiarity with NASA safety processes for pre-flight design, in-flight operations, and post-flight analysis is preferred.
  • Experience with NASA crew vehicles and related training programs/processes is preferred.
  • Additional industry experience in areas such as biomedical, energy, oil and gas, or similar sectors is preferred.
  • We value proven experience in systems engineering, requirements management, and human factors engineering.
  • Familiarity with relevant standards and regulations related to HSI and Human Factors, including aerospace, FDA, and DoD environments, is expected.
  • Experience with usability testing and user evaluation is a plus.
  • We look for proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Some experience with CAD is preferred.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential.
  • The ability to build and sustain relationships with management, teammates, and clients is important.

Responsibilities:
  • We provide systems engineering leadership across multiple skill areas for internal and external stakeholders.
  • We offer technical expertise and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, from requirements analysis through operational testing.
  • We engage with clients to understand their needs and advise on HSI principles and best practices.
  • We collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather, analyze, and align HSI and Human Factors requirements with project goals and user needs.
  • We translate user needs, ergonomic considerations, and usability requirements into clear technical specifications.
  • We evaluate client system requirements and identify opportunities to embed human-centered design principles early in development.
  • We develop, document, and maintain structured HSI and Human Factors requirements with traceability, completeness, and standards compliance.
  • We establish and maintain a requirements management process covering version control, change tracking, and impact analysis.
  • We prioritize human factors and ergonomic considerations throughout the design and development lifecycle with client teams.
  • We conduct usability assessments and evaluations to identify issues early in development.
  • We act as a bridge between technical teams, designers, and stakeholders, communicating requirements, trade-offs, and design rationale.
  • We coordinate with stakeholders to ensure HSI and Human Factors requirements are understood and incorporated into project planning.
  • We plan and run usability testing sessions to collect user feedback and assess real-world system performance.
  • We analyze usability results and provide recommendations to improve usability and user satisfaction.
  • We refine the requirements management process based on lessons learned and evolving industry standards.
  • We assess human error risks in complex systems and propose mitigation strategies to improve safety and performance.
  • We work with engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to integrate human-centered design principles into system development.
  • We lead projects from concept through completion, ensuring delivery within schedule and budget.
  • We motivate and monitor project staff progress.
  • We conduct final inspections and prepare project reports.
  • We serve as a key resource and escalation point for systems engineering issues and resolve questions from internal and external sources.
  • We perform feasibility studies, risk assessments, and mitigation planning for potential project challenges.
  • We define and communicate design requirements based on user data and insights.
  • We develop project plans and communications for clients and C-suite stakeholders.
  • We write engineering technical reports and assessments.
  • We evaluate, recommend, and implement procedures for data acquisition, management, and quality control.
  • We assess and recommend methods for data analysis and monitor and interpret analysis results.
  • We ensure compliance with industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements throughout systems engineering and integration processes.
  • We stay current on industry trends, best practices, and emerging HSI and Human Factors engineering technologies.
  • We maintain communication with current clients and partners throughout their engagement to support an exceptional experience.
  • We communicate effectively with our management and clients.
  • We assist with scheduling and coordinating meetings.
  • We keep records current and accurate.
  • We provide consistent weekly planning and status updates.
  • We participate in required training.
  • We maintain strong rapport with clients and industry contacts to support additional funding and contract opportunities.
  • We plan and participate in meetings, discussion groups, and events to increase project and company visibility.
  • We take ownership of our role and proactively share new ideas and suggestions.
